Monique has been on staff at Mercer Island Veterinary Clinic since March, 1997. She holds a BA in Psychology, is a Licensed Veterinary Technician in the state of Washington, and serves as a technician as well as the Hospital Manager for the clinic. Her special interests are applied animal behavior of all species (particularly domestic canines and wild animals), and proactive preventive medical care. Monique is a Veterinary Technician Specialist in animal behavior.
Outside of the clinic, Monique enjoys teaching classes for dogs and their owners in obedience, agility and Rally obedience. Her group classes are held at Seattle Agility Center. Monique also offers private consultations in obedience and behavior modification for dogs and cats.
Monique’s pets include dogs Lucy, Zora, and Rye, Frankie the cat, and an African Grey parrot named Stanley. Also sharing the house are two pet snakes, Agador and Ebenezer Squeezer. She competes at the national level in agility and stockdog events with her dogs, as well as competing in Rally and obedience. They all enjoy spending time at the beach, hiking and camping with her husband Bruce.
December, 2010, Paddy left this world a poorer place for her absence. Monique desperately misses her “heart dog,” from whom she learned so much about how to be who she is.
In April, 2008, Monique had to say goodbye to her 16-year-old Shih Tzu, Allie, and misses her terribly.
